Agrigento

The district of Menfi, situated between the rivers Belìce and Carboj, has been inhabited since prehistoric times. The modern city was founded in 1637 by Diego Aragona Tagliavia Pignatelli. Its economy is based above all on agricultural activity (production of wine, oil, artichokes etc.) but also on seaside tourism. Its beaches have in fact been Blue Flag certified for over sixteen years.
