Mother Church

Menfi (AG)
The church, dedicated to Saint Anthony of Padua, replaced the first Mother Church entitled Our Lady of Graces and was consecrated in 1650, even though it was yet to be completed. What we see today is instead the result of a lengthy restoration (1984-2006) following the 1968 earthquake.
Over the centuries the church has been enriched with valuable works of art such as the seventeenth century wooden statue of Saint Anthony of Padua, the group of sculptures of Our Lady of the Rosary amid the Saints Catharine and Domenic (XVII century), some eighteenth century paintings by brother Felix of Sambuca, wooden sculptures by Bagnese and a noteworthy wooden Crucifix, whose cross is covered in silver lamina (XVII century).
The roof of the new church is accessible and offers the possibility of enjoying the splendid panorama of the sea, looking past the piazza on one side, and that of the interior on the other.
