According to the geographer Stefano of Bisanzio (VI century AD), fine wines were being produced in the Menfi region as early as the Magna Graecia era, known in this period as Inycon. However the production of quality grapes and exquisite wines, cultivated on over seven thousand hectares of vineyards, has advanced in the last fifty years. The combination of earth, sun, wind and sea make this part of Sicily one of the most suitable for the production of greatly varied wines of unquestionable quality. Wine is not only an essential part of the Menfi economy but also and above all of its culture.
