Museum of Sylvie Clavel´s Textile Sculptures
Museums
Sambuca di Sicilia (AG)
The Museum of Textile Sculptures exhibits the remarkable art of Sylvie Clavel, a Parisian artist that lived in Sambuca for many years and today divides her time between Sambuca, Agrigento and Paris. By working slowly and delicately she manages to create magnificent sculptures in textiles based on knots and the binding of plant fibres that offer the possibility of exploring the psychophysical dimensions of being with a result that is unique on the European art scene. What characterises these pieces are their faces, created using wooden masks from Africa, where the artist’s brother lives. These masks are hand made by African artisans and have important artistic value that adds to that of the sculptures created by Sylvie Clavel.
