Church of Our Lady Audience (Church of Carmine)

The church, built in 1530, lies on the site of a former church dedicated to Saint Anthony the Abbot. The development of the city around this structure makes it the principle place of worship in Sambuca. The interior has three naves divided into five bays with rounded arches and pilasters that carry Corinthian style embellishments with gold and white decorations, on the part facing the central nave. In the niche of the central nave rests the marble statue of Our Lady of Audience, in Gagini style, which is of great artistic and religious value. Our Lady, which is considered “mother of the Sambuca people”, is celebrated on the third Sunday of May.
