Ribera

Agrigento

Ribera owes its name to Maria Afan Ribera, wife of Luigi Guglielmo Moncada, founder of the city at the end of the XVI century. Known as the homeland of the orange, in 1818 it was also the birthplace of the statesman Francesco Crispi. In 2011 it was recognised a Slow Food City and is the first Sicilian city to enter into the international network of “living well” cities.
