Vita

Trapani

Vita was founded in 1607 by the nobleman Vito Sicomo of Calatafimi. In the decades that followed it was deeply involved in the Risorgimento movement, playing a leading role in the Expedition of the One Thousand. In 1968 it was hit by a strong earthquake that destroyed the most important pieces of its history. Its reconstruction was carried out on another site, neighbouring the old inhabited centre.
