Santa Margherita di Belice

Agrigento

In the territory of Santa Margherita evidence of Sican, Greek and Arab settlements have been found. The modern town was founded in 1572 by baron Antonio Corbera. Although seriously damaged by the 1968 earthquake it still preserves its mysterious charm. Wine production represents the driving force of the economic sector alongside the cultivation of olives and the prickly pear.
