Church of Saint Anthony the Abbot
Churches
Cattolica Eraclea (AG)
The church of Saint Anthony the Abbot, built in 1608
by Raffadali immigrants, was the first matrix in Cattolica, dedicated to Our
Lady of Carmel. On the higher part of the central altar a stucco, dressed in
gold with the Carmelite coat of arms, stands out. The roof is sloped and the
façade is divided in the centre by a rosette and displays a low arched portal.
In ancient times tombs were located under the floor.
