Cattolica Eraclea (AG)
The Clock Tower rises up from Piazza Umberto I. It was planned and built in 1903 by the Agrigento-born engineer Donato Mendolia. It is adorned by pilasters with Ionic capitals on the lower part and Corinthian capitals on the upper. The Municipal Coat of Arms stands out on the top, depicting a star above three volcanoes. On the 25th of April 1975 a large marble headstone was placed on the lower part, on which are inscribed the names of the courageous catholic soldiers who fell heroically during the First and Second World Wars.
