Bonanno Palace
Palace
Cattolica Eraclea (AG)
An imposing and majestic palace, built at the wishes of prince Giuseppe Bonanno in 1778. The project was inspired by the geometric criteria of the philosophy of Enlightenment, even if the balcony frames and iron railings show signs of late Spanish Baroque influence. The façade, divided into modular geometric spaces, displays diverse styles of masonry work. One of which, the “a bugnato”, made up of protruding rocks that decorate the powerful edges and the front of the main entrance, is well worth noting. On the ground floor six rectangular architrave openings frame the sober portal with a round arch, while a light frame marks the space above on which hang seven balconies.
