The Historic Archive and Notarial of the Castelvetrano district is located in Via Garibaldi, in the rooms of the former Conservatory for Orphans of San Giacomo, which dates back to the XVII century. It was opened in 2008 and dedicated to Virgilio Titone, important historian and literary scholar of the city. It preserves a heritage of fundamental importance for historical research, with a collection of over 10,000 books including documents that range from 1589 to today, others date all the way back to 1450 (notarial archive), hundreds of eighteenth century prints never seen before and lastly a series of works that make up a library accessible to everyone.
