Agrigento

Montallegro was established in 1574 as a small, inhabited centre named Angiò on a mountain called Monslaetus. As a result of its strategic position it was able to resist the frequent barbarian invasions until the XVII century.
During the second half of the seventeenth century the village was abandoned and the inhabitants moved to the lowlands, to the site on which Montallegro currently lies.
