Gorgo Lake

The Gorgo Lake, an oasis managed by LIPU, is an important resting and nesting spot for numerous types of birds, from the migrator to the webbed feet species, from wading birds to passerines such as the Cetti’s warbler. Throughout the year it is possible to catch sight of cormorants, coots, grebes, grey herons, flamingos, pochards, tufted ducks, and sometimes, the rare purple heron. Along its banks the rare European pond turtle is easily observed. The oasis is an attraction for nature enthusiasts and above all for lovers of bird watching.
