Oasis of Montallegro

The territory of Oasis, that surrounds the artificial reservoir known as “Laghetto Gorgo”, is very varied, there are in fact humid parts alternated with dryer parts and large areas of willow forest. Many migratory birds rest here, drawn to the wealth of food. Generally you can see cormorants, tufted ducks, egrets, common snipes, coots, reed warblers, curlews and house sparrows. The most protected animal is the pond turtle, very rare not only in Italy but also in the rest of the world, which has become the symbol of the entire Oasis. Visitors can follow a nature trail that goes around the lake and ends at a well-camouflaged hut from which it is possible to observe the animals without disturbing them.
