Museum of the Memory and the Territory

The Museum, #MeTe Museum of Memory and the Territory, is situated in Casale, the oldest quarter of Siculiana. It was established in 2014 with the intention of being a space in which individual and collective memories of a community are written in the history of local places and the local territory. The main objective is the formation of critical and constructive awareness towards themes and initiatives aimed at social cohesion and conscious development of the local community’s own cultural traits. The museum accommodates various sections, including those that correspond to the memorabilia of the Garibaldi doctor Giuseppe Basile, to the equipment and tools that are related to the cycle of grain cultivation, to the winemaking tradition and to other trades.

The period photography exhibition and the multimedia system, which allows interaction between the various contents, are of particular interest. A religious section and a section that corresponds to the memory of those that fell in the Great War complete the space.
