From the slopes of Mount Kronio gush thermal waters with extraordinary therapeutic quality, the so-called Sulphuric Waters or, as named by the Greeks, “Holy Waters”. This denomination stems from the fact that Greeks, Carthaginians and Romans, who celebrated rituals in honour of Saturn on Mount Kronio, were all told by their perspective doctors to cure themselves in the waters of Thermae Selinuntinae, recognised as even more beneficial than those of Urbe. The Thermae Selinuntinae were established in the VII century BC and now correspond to the city of Sciacca. Today the sulphuric waters are located in an Art Nouveau style establishment that dates back to the nineteen thirties. The fame owed to its hydro-thermal heritage has re-baptised Sciacca “The City of Hot Springs”. The SPA is however currently closed.
