Sciacca (AG)
The Church of Saint Domenic, founded at the same time as the Monastery in the XVI century by Tomasso Fazzello, was restructured in the second half of the eighteenth century on a design by Ermenegildo Vetrano and restored in 1859. The simple and severe façade is made up of blocks of tuff laced with shells. The Baroque style interior has a single nave with eight smaller chapels and one large chapel. On the altars along the right of the nave there are three paintings that depict Saint Thomas of Aquino, Saint Giacinto and Saint Domenic. On the altars to the left of the nave there are others that depict Saint Crispino Crispiniano (1874 – Giuseppe Tresca) and the Assumption of the Virgin (1804 – G. Sabbella). On the main altar stand the statue of Our Lady of the Rosary by Vincenzo Ferreri and the Way of the Cross by Vincenzo Tresca.
