Emigration Museum
Museums
Santa Ninfa (TP)
The museum hosts a permanent exhibition on Sicilian emigration resulting from the 1894 uprising and from the rapid spread of the pyhlloxera epidemic in 1897. In the first section the exhibition trail illustrates the motives that led to the grand exodus at the end of the nineteenth century and the beginning of the twentieth century. In the second section the story of the communities born through Santa Ninfa emigration are described, with particular emphasis on mutual associations and social commitment to which the elites and large parts of the Belìce community dedicated themselves. A large multimedia room connected to the Internet offers visitors the possibility of more detailed exploration. In the neighbouring room the focus widens to that of emigration in all of Trapani, while the last rooms of the museum are aimed at describing the history of the other mutual aid societies in the area.
