Santa Ninfa (TP)
The current Mother Church lies on the ruins of the former structure built in 1659 by Simone Giardina. It was reconstructed following the earthquake in 1968 on a design by the architect Paolo Di Stefano from Santa Ninfa and reopened to the public on the 9th of June 2007. What little remains of the old structure includes four internal bays, three of which with niches, and part of the transept. The wooden choir pews are also preserved and were constructed in 1774 by Monsignor Antonino Calandra of Castelvetrano. The church is dedicated to the Patron, Saint Ninfa, to which the townspeople are particularly devoted; in fact every year a three-day celebration in honour of the Saint is held that culminates with a traditional procession through the streets of the town.
