'Nfigghiulata

The typical product from Poggioreale. In ancient times the ‘Nfigghiulata was prepared using the dough of left over bread to which ‘poor’ ingredients such as “li frittuli” (pork cracklings) were added. Nowadays there are a number of versions but the typical ‘Nfigghiulata from Poggioreale is a sheet of pastry filled with sausage, onion, Sicilian sheep’s cheese, salt and pepper.
