Tardara Canyon

The Tardara Canyon is a natural canyon created by the erosive action of the river Carboj. It was closed off in the 1940’s to create the artificial reservoir of Lake Arancio. The canyon is situated between the territories of Sciacca and Sambuca and has a length of at least 2 km. Trekking in this area is ideal for the discovery of the characteristic plant life, the wildlife that populates the river and the colonies of bats living inside the caves dug into the steep rocky walls.
