Torre Salsa Natural Reserve
The uncontaminated coast of Torre Salsa Nature Reserve, with its 762 hectares of land, spreads out between Siculiana Marina and Eraclea Minoa, where gypsum cliffs alternate with limestone and isolated beaches.
Nearby the gypsum cliffs there are some natural terraces shaped by a number of deep torrents that branch out and lead to the sea, creating spectacular and charming imagery.
In the heart of this oasis lie the ruins of Torre Salsa, a watchtower dating back to the end of the sixteenth century that dominates the summit of a small clay promontory.
The arduous nature of the area has preserved the subdivisions of this oasis and puts it among the most interesting places in Sicily. The variety and beauty of its surroundings and the importance of the flora and fauna are worthy of the highest protection.
